Maximus, our beloved Maine Coon kitty, was born in the bitter winter month of January 2020 in Powell, WY. He was happily adopted by the Pettit family in May of 2020 during the COVID pandemic. He arrived in a busy household with four kiddos, a doggo, and two kitty siblings. He learned to love going outside in his harness to visit the big outdoors. His days were filled with chasing his brothers, bugs, and kitty treats. His furry brothers loved him dearly, but not as much as his people loved him. He was showered with hugs and kisses by his human family. He was always gentle and patient with those little hands, and a deep love developed between him and his people. Maximus was never cross with anyone. A truly gentle creature.
Maximus seemed to know he was bigger than the average cat. He used his size in comical ways during wrestling matches with his siblings, and when the shady neighbor cat was intimidating one of his furry brothers, he used his size to deter threats to the peace of his home. He was amusing to watch.
Maximus died suddenly in our home surrounded by family who love him so much. He did not suffer. His giant presence is deeply missed. We are grateful for the time we had with him, and we will never forget this gentle soul.
